productYearly Goals for K-4 Arts:
BK: -Students will be able to identify colors in the rainbow, and rainbow order. -Students will be able to use simple shapes like circles, triangles, and squares to draw recognizable images. -Students will be able to follow multiple step instructions to complete projects. -Students will be able to identify forms of artwork in their everyday lives. Kindergarten: -Students will know the Primary Colors; red, yellow, and blue. - Students will be able to identify at least 5 shapes correctly. -Students will show growth in their ability to add detail to their drawings -Students will be able to use their artwork to tell a story. -Students will learn about the artwork of Frida Kahlo, Cezanne, 1st grade: - Students will know how to create Secondary Colors (orange, green & purple) -Students will be able to demonstrate color theory, and color mixing. They will be able to make secondary colors as well as identify warm and cool color families. -Students will be able to identify 9 or more different types of lines. -Students will learn about the artwork of Picasso, O'Keeffe, Cezanne and Matisse. 2nd grade: -Students will know what are portraits, landscapes and still lives. -Students will be able to mix a color wheel with help from a teacher. -Students will know the difference between realism and abstraction and be able to identify the differences. -Students will be able to demonstrate their knowledge of various art elements in order to create a finished and signed product. 3rd grade: - Students will know the Principal of Design; pattern, and be able to use it successfully in their artwork. -Students will know at least 4 color families -Students will know what symmetry is and be able to create it in their artwork. 4th grade:: -Students will learn about every day uses of artwork in different types of media -Students will learn about the Pop Art movement and be able to identify Andy Warhol and Wayne Thiebaud as prominent artists. -Students will be able to select different media that best suits their intention for a project. |
A little about me.....
I received my teaching degree in K-12 art education through MSU. I also have a Master Degree in Early Childhood Education through SVSU. While this is my first year at NBE, I previously taught K-12 Art at Marlette Community Schools for 9 years. As a Teacher I believe.... - everyone can be an artist - the power of a positive attitude will get you far - we can have fun & get the job done In our Art Class....... - we try our best - we are ready, respectful, & responsible - we are willing to try new forms of art even if it seems scary. |
